About RoofViz
RoofViz is a free AI-powered metal roof visualizer built for Ottawa homeowners who are considering upgrading to a metal roof. Instead of relying on small swatch samples or imagination, you can upload a photo of your own home — or capture one directly from Google Street View using your property address — and instantly see how different metal roofing profiles, styles, and colors will look on your house.
We feature products from five of Ottawa's leading metal roofing manufacturers: EcoRoof, Vicwest, Ideal Roofing, Metstar, and SnapLock. Choose from standing seam, ribbed panels, metal tile, cedar shake, slate, and corrugated profiles available in over 50 colors. Once you generate a visualization you can save it to your personal gallery, compare two designs side-by-side, download the image, or share it with friends, family, and your roofing contractor. Every visualization is produced by an AI model that studies your photo and applies the selected roof texture with realistic perspective, scale, and lighting — and if the first render isn't perfect, you can regenerate it in a single click.
RoofViz is built and maintained by a small Ottawa-based team passionate about helping homeowners make confident, informed decisions about one of the most important exterior investments they will make. Metal roofing lasts 40 to 70 years, improves energy efficiency, stands up to Canadian winters, and can increase resale value — but choosing the right profile and color is hard without seeing it on your actual home. We built RoofViz to remove that guesswork entirely. The tool is completely free to use, works on any device, and requires no sign-up to start visualizing.

How to Use RoofViz
A step-by-step guide to visualizing, saving, comparing, and sharing your metal roof designs.
Step 1 — Add Your Home Photo
Go to the Visualizer page. You can either upload a clear photo of your home from your device, or enter your property address and click "Capture Street View" to grab an image directly from Google Street View. For best results, use a front-facing photo taken in good daylight with minimal tree coverage.
Step 2 — Choose Your Roof
Select a manufacturer (EcoRoof, Vicwest, Ideal Roofing, Metstar, or SnapLock), then pick a roof profile (standing seam, ribbed panel, tile, shake, slate, and more) and a color from the swatches. You can also browse all available colors on the Colours page and jump straight into the visualizer with your selection.
Step 3 — Visualize
Choose your perspective — Street View keeps the original photo angle, while Front Elevated View generates an elevated perspective that makes the roof surface the dominant element. Click "Visualize My Roof" and wait a few seconds for the AI to render your new roof.
Step 4 — Regenerate if Needed
The AI studies your photo carefully, but complex rooflines or tricky angles can occasionally produce a double image or an imperfect render. If that happens, just click "Regenerate" — it usually resolves on the next attempt. It can take two to three renderings to get the perfect result.
Step 5 — Save Your Design
Happy with the result? Click "Save" to store it in your personal gallery. If you're not signed in, you'll be asked for your name and email so we can save the design for you. You can save as many designs as you like and compare them later.
Step 6 — Access & Compare Saved Designs
Tap "Saved" in the navigation bar (the bookmark icon on mobile) to open your gallery at any time. From there you can select any two designs and click "Compare" to view them side-by-side, making it easy to decide between different brands, profiles, or colors.
Step 7 — Download
To download a visualization image to your device, click the "Download" button. The first time you download, you'll be asked for your name and email so we can send you the image and keep you updated. After that, downloads are instant.
Step 8 — Share
From your saved designs gallery, click the "Share" button on any design to post it to Facebook or Instagram, copy a direct link, or share it via your device's native share menu to send to friends, family, or your roofing contractor.
Step 9 — Email to Yourself
On the visualizer result page, click "Email" to send the visualization directly to your inbox. Enter your email address and the image will arrive in your mailbox, ready to forward or keep for reference.
